法律，是由憲法明文授權国家制定的一套具有強制力的社會規範，以實現憲法旨意，達成約束國家權力、保障人民權利的目標。法律由各種抽象的規範所組成，通常需要由人來實施，最常見的形式為由政府行使公權力來執法。但在不同的地方，法律體系會以不同的方式來闡述人民的權利與義務。其中一種區分法，便是分為大陸法系和英美法系兩種。部分國家則會以該國的宗教法為其法律的基礎。
